Performance of steel bridge piers filled with lightweight concrete under cyclic loading

Abstract Concrete-filled steel tube columns are widely used in civil engineering structures due to their excellent ductility, energy absorption capacity, ultimate load-bearing and seismic behavior. In this paper, a numerical study modeling of eight lightweight concrete conventional filled tubes was carried out using ABAQUS software, the lateral load-carrying capacity square circular under cyclic load compared. The quarter one-third height with respect pier's height, improve base performance piers. results show that increased by 40%–70% regarding absorption. showed better than terms yielding load, displacement, dissipation.
